By Doug Schneider No major changes are needed to the forecast for the Gallagher Grand Prix. Friday and Saturday will have ideal conditions to spend the day at IMS. Temperatures will be seasonably cool, peaking in the lower 80s, and humidity levels will be comfortable.
If you're going to the NASCAR race on Sunday, it will likely be another nice day, with highs in the lower 80s again. By: Harris Cooley This weekend presents some more sporadic weather as a Low pressure system will be bringing rain to the Hungarian Grand Prix Saturday. Friday will be hot and humid with partly cloudy skies and high ambient temps before a frontal passage Saturday. Heavy rain is expected through Saturday with cooler temps and increasing winds setting in by Sunday. Rain chances die down by Sunday with cooler temps but moderate to strong winds set in which could cause some drag issues during the race.
A metric graphic is displayed below... By: Stephen McCoy Compared to previous years, the forecast for the 24 Hours of Spa is relatively uneventful. Fairly mild temperatures will be present through the week with light winds and minimal cloud cover. A slight chance for showers is possible Thursday night into Friday, but dry conditions are expected for the remainder of the week.
Beginning Thursday, an area of high pressure will be centered over the British Isles, resulting in relatively stable conditions over the region. Light winds will be present from the east with partly cloudy conditions throughout the day. An area of low pressure at the surface will move eastward through central Europe on Friday, with the Benelux region being on the northern side of the system. Low level winds from the south will bring a slight increase of moisture to the area Thursday night, resulting in a slight chance for showers in the early morning on Friday. By the end of Friday, high pressure will build in again, causing stable conditions for the remainder of the weekend, much like those seen on Thursday. By Doug Schneider Ideal weather conditions are expected for the Gallagher Grand Prix at IMS. After a cold front passes through the area on Thursday night, high pressure will build over central Indiana and provide pleasant conditions. Temperatures will be cooler than normal both days, with highs in the lower 80s, and humidity levels will be quite comfortable. For late July in Indianapolis, you couldn't ask for better weather.
By: Harris Cooley The forecast has not changed since the initial report with sunny skies and light winds. A loose High pressure gradient will be sitting over the site for the weekend keeping the skies clear and winds calm. Temps will be high causing tire degradation among other parameters for teams to be cognizant of. A metric graphic is displayed below...
By Doug Schneider There will be several weather impacts at Iowa Speedway this weekend, especially Saturday.
Showers are crossing Iowa this morning, and they should be clear of the Speedway by the mid afternoon hours, when the first IndyCar practice session is scheduled. The Indy Lights practice at 2:15 local time could potentially be affected, but I think the chance of that is low. With the morning clouds, highs will reach the lower 90s today. Saturday is expected to be a very hot day, with high temperatures in the upper 90s, and a heat index reaching near 105. A Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service. It will also be breezy, with gusts between 20 and 25 mph. There is a potential for showers and thunderstorms to move through in the late afternoon and evening. The most likely time for this appears to be between 6 pm and 9 pm local time, just after the race is scheduled to end. We'll have to keep an eye on how storms develop over Minnesota in the afternoon, as the storms will track toward the south-southeast. A cold front will move through the area Saturday night, which will make for a more comfortable day on Sunday. Highs will be in the mid 80s, with slightly lower humidity. There could be some showers lingering in the area in the morning, but I don't expect any shower and thunderstorms in the area during the afternoon, so the race should be completed with no issues. By Scott Martin. On Friday, we will be in-between two cold fronts, with low pressure to our north and high pressure to our south. While skies will be mainly sunny throughout the day, the locations of these fronts may give just enough instability for a few showers or storms to fire up during the afternoon hours; however, chances will be very small, only at 20%. Afternoon high is forecast to reach 85º. Winds will be out of the southwest to west at 5-10 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph possible at times.
On Saturday, the front to our south goes stationary, while the front to our north will continue to push in our direction. Skies will start off mostly sunny, but clouds will begin to build during the afternoon. While a small chance of a shower or storm is possible, rain doesn't look likely at this point. Afternoon high will be around 85º and winds will be out of the southwest to west at 5-10 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph possible at times. The approaching front will stall out over the northern parts of New York on Sunday, while the southern front stays in place. This will put us in a place where we'll have a higher chance of showers and storms throughout the day, with the most activity occurring in the afternoon. Rain also looks likely during the pre-dawn hours as well, so track may still be wet when the gates open. High will be around 81º. Chance of rain is at 40% for now. Winds will once again be out of the southwest to west at 5-10 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph possible at times. By: Harris Cooley I have a pretty easy task for this GP in comparison to the last couple! Sunny skies and light winds are expected throughout the weekend as higher pressures and a loose pressure gradient lay over the site. With plenty of sunshine comes steady radiation leaving the track temps quite hot. Strategy for tire degradation will be a top priority this weekend as well as keeping those drivers cool.
