By Doug Schneider It's time for our annual gallery of the best photos combining our two favorite things - race cars and weather! Hope you enjoy these photos from some excellent photographers. Have a happy New Year, and we'll see you in 2022! By: Harris Cooley As we round out this exciting F1 season in Abu Dhabi, the weather will be much like it was last weekend. No chances of rain are present with calm northwesterly winds expected on race day. A high pressure with a slightly tightened pressure gradient will be over the site and will cause occasional wind gusts in the afternoon, but it will be calm by night time. This trend is expected to hold up through the weekend.
As Lewis and Max battle it out for the Driver's Championship, they could not have asked for better conditions to do it in. This will be a memorable race regardless of the outcome! A metric graphic is posted below... By: Harris Cooley As expected, the conditions have not changed much since the initial forecast. The High to the east over mainland Saudi Arabia will be tightening its pressure gradient over Jeddah causing occasionally gusty winds out of the northwest. The lack of cloud coverage will fuel these gusts as the surface heats throughout the day on top of causing a rapid degradation of soft tires on the asphalt. A weak cyclonic system across the Red Sea will shift wind directions to southwesterly for Saturday and Sunday, but wind speeds should remain light.
It being a brand new track, the teams are likely focused on just memorizing their strategies to race it but tire duration will be a big factor in the final laps. This is especially true with the way that this F1 season is shaping out as the two top drivers are in neck-and-neck contention heading into this weekend. An exciting race weekend is in store for us and the weather couldn't be clearer! A metric graphic is displayed below... |
