By Doug Schneider The main issue for the IndyCar weekend at Iowa Speedway will be the hot temperatures. HIghs on Friday and Saturday will be in the mid 90s, with the humidity causing heat index values to rise to around 100. There will also be a small chance of a shower or thunderstorm affecting the on-track action on Friday and Saturday. The exact timing of storms is still very uncertain this early in the week, so check back here for updates. Hopefully the timing will work out to avoid any impacts. Sunday appears to be the best day, as a front is expected to move through the area and bring slightly cooler temperatures and lower humidity.
by Scott Martin Friday and Saturday will be nearly carbon copies of each other, as skies will have some sun early, but clouds move in during the afternoon hours to help cool those track temperatures a little. At this point, no rain is showing up on the forecast models, so both days will be dry. Highs will top out around 81 degrees on both days, and winds will roughly be out of the south to southeast at 5-10 mph.
Sunday will start off partly to mostly cloudy, and it will stay that way through much of the day, even though I wouldn't be surprised if a few peeks of sun makes it through. We are looking at an approaching system making its way to the Toronto area, but it looks like that much, if not all, of that activity will stay west of the city for now. At this point, I am leaving the chance of rain around 30% as a stray shower may make it that far east. Winds will be out of the southeast at 6-12 mph and the high will be around 82. By Doug Schneider Beautiful weather is expected this weekend for the Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park. A cold front and upper level trough is expected to cross the area on Thursday, and be clear of the track by Friday morning. High pressure will build over the region through Friday, shifting off the New England coast by Saturday. Temperatures will be warm but humidity will be quite comfortable, with a light wind from the north of Friday shifting to the south on Saturday.
By: Harris Cooley It's looking like a cloudy and calm weekend for the Austrian GP which is typical for this region. The pressure gradient will be tight over the area for the whole weekend keeping rain chances present. The calm winds will leave moisture lingering in the mornings fueling these morning showers. The rain dwindles by the afternoon, but the clouds will stick around with breaks of sunshine throughout the weekend.
Race day presents some chances for showers in the morning but clearing out by the afternoon, so the track could be a bit wet depending on the volume of precipitation. This will have the teams quickly changing their strategies depending on the conditions. A metric graphic is displayed below... By: Stephen McCoy These are the updates we like to see in a forecast. With the cold front moving through, rainfall chances will be primarily overnight Friday into Saturday morning, with slightly cooler temperatures also on the way. However, as opposed to the previous forecast, once the front moves through, no more rainfall is expected for the remainder of the weekend. In fact, mostly clear to partly cloudy conditions will be present for much of Saturday and Sunday with some heavier cloud cover moving in during the afternoon to evening.
