What's new for 2017

We are excited to bring you another season of weather forecasts for sports car racing and open wheel racing across North America. If you haven't seen our schedule of forecasts for the coming year yet, click on the "2017 Schedules" link at the top of the page. And if you follow several racing series, it's also a handy one-stop link that combines all the schedules of IMSA, IndyCar, Pirelli World Challenge, MRTI, and Trans Am.

We will still be forecasting for all of those series in 2017. Scott has created a beautiful new forecast graphic that I'll use for the Roar Before the 24 forecast, which will be posted tomorrow.

A new feature in our forecast graphics will be a weather impact indicator. The purpose of this is to give you a clear picture of how we expect the racing action to be affected by weather. There will be three impact levels:
Picture
Green flag means no weather impacts are expected while there is activity on the track.
Picture
Yellow flag: Moderate impact. This means there is a chance of some weather impact on racing activities, but it should be brief and not cause major delays or cancellations. For example, if we expect that there will be a period of rain during the race, which may lead to a caution period or a brief stoppage of the race, then we would use the yellow flag.
Picture
Red flag: High impact. We expect that the weather will have a significant impact on the racing action, causing either major delays or cancellations. For example, last year's IndyCar race at Pocono, which had to be delayed until Monday, would be a "Red Flag" impact. Or the 2015 Petit Le Mans, which was affected by heavy rain from a tropical cyclone and was cut short of its full distance.

We will continue to partner with NASportscar.com, The Apex, and the Slipstream Network, where our forecasts will be featured on their websites, social media, and their podcasts. We are always looking to expand and add new partners, so if you have a racing website or podcast and would like to use our forecasts, please let us know via the contact form on this site or by contacting me or Scott through Twitter.

We will also continue to partner with Road America, and our forecasts will be featured on their social media outlets and on their video screens at the track. We are looking to expand our track partnerships as well, so we hope to have more news on this in the coming months.

If you are looking to advertise, we have opportunities available not only through our website, but through our forecast graphics. Please reach us using the contact form at the top of the website.

Thanks for following, and we appreciate your feedback.
