Saturday is going to be a great day weather-wise out at Road America. Skies will be mostly sunny throughout the daytime hours, with a few clouds moving in during the late afternoon and early evening hours. Afternoon highs will be in the mid 80s. Winds will be out of the south at 10-15 MPH. Chance of rain during the day time hours is 0%.
During the overnight hours on Saturday night and into early Sunday morning, a cold front will be pushing through the area. With the night staying warm, and dewpoints levels well up in the 60s, there is a possibility that storms along and ahead of the front could become severe. For that reason, the SPC has defined the Plymouth and Elkhart Lake areas under a "Marginal Risk" for severe storms from tonight through 7AM Sunday morning. The main threats will be damaging winds and hail. For those of you camping out at the track, you may need to sleep in the car tonight.
During the day on Sunday, rain chances will diminish throughout the morning as the cold front continues to push off to the east out of the area. By the time the noon hour arrives, skies will begin the clearing process and should become mostly clear by the late afternoon. Even though a cold front moved through, you wouldn't think that, as afternoon highs will be up in the mid to upper 80s. Winds will be out of the west at 10-15 MPH. Chance of rain during the morning hours is 40%, after that it drops to 0%.
