Trans Am has made a good call and delayed today's official load in at Homestead-Miami Speedway to tomorrow due to Hurricane Matthew., which is now a Category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds near the center of 125 mph. However, Matthew's path will stay east of Homestead, so winds are expected to stay below 50 mph there later today. Here's the latest forecast track:
A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Homestead. Rain will be heavy at times this afternoon and this evening, with between 1 and 2 inches of rain expected.
Although Matthew will be moving away on Friday, scattered showers may continue around Homestead as the atmosphere will remain very moist and unstable. It will remain windy on Friday, with a west to southwest wind between 15 and 30 mph, with gusts over 30 mph at times.
The rest of the weekend looks good for racing, but it will be rather muggy and uncomfortable, with afternoon dewpoint temperatures in the mid 70s and highs near 90.
