Some isolated light showers can be expected around Daytona this afternoon, mainly after 4 pm. Qualifying and practice sessions will be held from 3 pm through the evening, but I don't expect the rain to have much impact. There's only a 20% chance of a shower hitting the track, and even if that happens, there will likely only be a couple hundredths of an inch measured. Here's a model simulation of what the radar might look like today:
Friday will be cooler as a cold front will have moved through the area. More sunshine is expected compared to today, but highs will only reach the mid 60s. Saturday looks pretty similar to Friday, with partly sunny skies and highs in the lower 60s.
Sunday's timing of sprinkles looks earlier today than my previous forecast, but I still expect little to no impact from it. Overcast high clouds will be over the track Saturday night, and there may be a few raindrops felt on Sunday morning. There probably won't be enough rain to measure, and teams may not even have to change to wet tires. Cool temperatures will continue, with lows Sunday morning in the mid 40s, and highs around 60.
