The good news is that the system will have lifted out of the area for Friday and Saturday, leaving IMS with cooler temperatures and a mix of sun and clouds on both days. Friday will start off with mostly cloudy skies and temperatures in the lower 50s, but skies will be clearing somewhat with highs reaching the lower 60s. Saturday will start off mostly clear with temperatures in the mid-40s, but clouds will begin to increase and highs will reach the mid-60s.
By Scott Martin. Thursday looks to be a stormy day at times across Speedway, Indiana, as a storm system will be moving through the area during the first half of the day. That will be showers and thunderstorms will be likely through the morning and into the early afternoon hours. Rain chances will finally begin to lower during the mid-afternoon through the early evening hours and there may be some dry periods, even though lingering scattered showers and storms will continue to be possible. Daytime highs will top out in the lower 70s after starting off in the mid-60s. Chance of rain is at 90% and winds will be out of the southwest at 10-15 MPH with gusts up to 25 MPH possible. We may have to watch for a few stronger storms as there is a Marginal Risk of severe storms just south of the speedway.
