Today will start off rather chilly but with plenty of sunshine at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but conditions will change during the latter part of the day with rain becoming almost likely during the main event this afternoon. A disturbance that is starting off in Missouri this morning will be moving to the northeast through the day and will start to move into the western parts of Indiana around noon. Clouds will be increasing throughout the later parts of the morning and into the early afternoon hours and showers will become possible at or around the 3:00 pm hour. After that, rain chances will be rapidly increasing and topping out around 50% before the checkered flag falls at the end of the Indycar Grand Prix.
After starting off with temperatures in the 40s, the daytime high will top out in the lower 60s. Winds will be out of the east at 5-10 MPH early, but will be out of the northeast at 5-10 by the mid-afternoon hours. Once again, the chance of rain increases from around 20% at 3:00 pm to around 50% by 5:30 pm. No thunder is expected and rainfall does not appear to be all that heavy, so the race should be completed.
