The timing of rain on Sunday looks a little faster today. There has been some question as to whether the rain would hold off until after the racing ended. With today's latest data, it's looking more like there will be showers and thunderstorms around the area during the race, which ends at 3 pm. I expect that showers and thunderstorms will be moving close to the Brainerd area between 1 pm and 4 pm, with the chances of rain continuing to rise through the late afternoon. The 50% chance of rain for Sunday is the chance of rain arriving during the race, before 3 pm. I think the chance of rain after 3 pm is higher than that, closer to 70%. There is also a chance that the storms could be strong, with gusty winds, hail, and frequent lightning. If you're at the track Sunday, be sure to day weather aware. Locate the nearest substantial shelter to your location, and move there quickly when thunder is heard.
