Friday Forecast Update for The Roar Before The Rolex 24

Looking at the latest runs of the forecast models, I am not too impressed with the rain coverage for Saturday at Daytona. The day should start off with some fog in the area, but should dissipate by 9AM. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy at times. Here is where I'm not impressed with the rain. Models are showing showers and maybe a thunderstorm or two moving in from the Gulf of Mexico and across the peninsula, but not arriving until after the test sessions are over with Saturday evening. There may be a stray shower or thunderstorm that could develop ahead of the shortwave, and therefore I'm keeping a chance of precipitation in the forecast before testing is finished.

After the shortwave moves through during the overnight hours, Sunday looks like a beautiful day at the track. May be mostly cloudy to begin the daytime, but skies should become generally mostly sunny (or partly cloudy in my talk) for the remainder. Temperatures will be cooler and wind will be gusty at times, up to 20 MPH. Other than that, no chance of rain.
