THURSDAY AT THE TRACK
The day will be a great and warm day at the track... The day will start off with beautiful, clear skies, and the temperature will be near 67 degrees at the 8AM hour. With the heating of the day, a few clouds will form overhead, but skies will generally remain mostly clear. No rain is expected at all, and the afternoon high will be near 85 degrees. Just remember to drink plenty of liquids to stay hydrated, and sunscreen will be needed.
FRIDAY AT THE TRACK
Not bad at all... a great day to bring the family out to one of the most scenic venues on the Verizon Indycar Series. Skies will be mostly clear throughout the day, and temperatures will be quite warm. It will start off in the upper 60s when the gates open, and will reach near 85 degrees for the afternoon high. There will be a very small risk of an isolated shower or storm during the afternoon hours, but those odds are less than 1 in 5. If it happens to rain at the track, however unlikely, amounts will be less than 1/10th of an inch. Once again, stay hydrated and sunscreen up.
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
Saturday will be brilliant to start the day, as temperatures will be in the mid 60s when the gates open, and skies will be clear. Temperatures will warm nicely throughout the day, but will not be as warm as Friday, topping out near 83 degrees. We will have some clouds moving in through the day, and will be mostly cloudy by late afternoon. There will be a small risk of scattered showers or storms during the late morning through the afternoon hours, but odds for rain will be less than 1 in 3.
For Campers At The Track: There will be a cold front approaching and moving through Central Alabama throughout Saturday evening and into Sunday morning, bringing with it showers and thunderstorms. As of now, it looks like we will have a low-end damaging wind and hail event. Also with this setup, tornadoes should not be a threat. The main window for these strong storms will be from 6PM Saturday until 6AM Sunday. Rain totals of up to 1 inch will be possible.
Sunday will be a much cooler day, with high temperatures occurring very early in the morning. The day will be cloudy throughout, and we may have a few sprinkles to a light scattered shower move through on the back side of the cold front. The high temperature will be near 64 degrees during the morning, but falling into the upper 50s throughout the afternoon. Odds for and sprinkles or light showers will be around 1 in 3, but amounts will be very light. I believe that rain tires will probably be needed, but it will not be a washout by any means (as of this forecast).
Radar will be running for the event starting on Thursday, and you can find my updates on our social media feeds. I will be at the track on Friday through Sunday, mainly in the paddock area... so if you're there, say hi if you run into me there. Have a great week!
