A great looking forecast ahead. Looking at model runs, the skies will stay mostly clear through the race weekend, with just a few extra clouds moving across on Friday. Highs for all three days will be in the lower to mid 80s, with overnight lows in the lower 60s. You will definitely need your sunglasses, sunscreen and hats for the weekend fun.
I mentioned tropical mischief earlier. If this system develops like some models are projecting, it may affect the weather at Road Atlanta. As to how much, I can't really tell as the system hasn't even developed yet. Looking at some of the latest model data, it looks like the main precipitation core may stay off the coasts of Georgia and South Carolina. There may be a few scattered showers that may move westward across the state on Saturday, but as of now I will only say a slight chance. As the time gets closer, I'll be able to get a better idea on what is going to happen. Right now, I'm sticking with my forecast above.
Radar will be available on our site just in case this system does develop. Get the latest updates by following my Twitter feed @RaceWx4You and our Facebook page.
