The weather looks great to start on Thursday and Friday. The practice and qualifying sessions will have plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures in the lower 80s both days. Clouds will be increasing through the day on Friday as a low pressure system approaches from the west, and winds will be picking up as well.
For the past few days, the models have been hinting at a cold front moving across Florida over the weekend. The timing of the rain associated with the front has been fluctuating from one model run to the next, so my confidence on timing is on the low side. For now, Saturday looks to have a chance of some showers and thunderstorms. Hopefully, my confidence will increase through the week, and I will be able to pin down the timing a little more precisely than that with later forecast updates. Saturday may be quite windy ahead of the front, with south winds of 15 to 25 mph, with higher gusts possible. If the current timing holds up, the chance of rain will end by Sunday, leaving a nice day for racing.
