This week's forecast for the SCCA Runoffs at Mid-Ohio appears to be nearly perfect for racing, as rain is not expected during the on-track times, and temperatures cooling off for the weekend.
There is a surface high over the region that has been in control over the area that will begin to weaken, and this will allow for a back-door surface cold front to move in during the late night hours of tonight and hang around through Saturday evening. This will bring a risk for showers and a possible thunderstorm or two for the overnight hours of Friday night into early Saturday morning, but moisture will be limited so that risk will be small. Good news is that no rain is expected during any of the on-track times for any of the races or qualifying.
Skies will be mostly sunny today and tomorrow, with daytime highs in the mid 80s. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy on Saturday as the surface front will be over the area, and highs will drop into the mid 70s. High pressure will start to build into the area for Sunday and push the clouds out. Skies will be mostly clear and highs will be in the mid to upper 70s.
So it looks like all you will need is a good supply of sunscreen, a hat, and shades to enjoy the exciting racing that will take place at Mid-Ohio. As of now, I will not have radar up unless a threat of rain develops for the on-track action.
