There is good model agreement that the front will be east of the area by Saturday morning, with northwesterly winds supplying some drier and more stable air. Dry weather appears most likely on Saturday, but if the front and upper level trough ends up moving out more slowly than the models currently show, that may need to change with later forecast updates. Sunday looks like a beautiful day for racing, with mostly sunny skies and high temperatures around 80.
By Doug Schneider I'm happy to report that the weather for this year's Six Hours of the Glen looks much better than last year. The conditions last year were really difficult for teams to deal with, as there were on and off showers through most of the race. While there is a chance of rain that may affect some of the support races on Friday afternoon, I'm confident that the Six Hours on Sunday will be held in dry conditions. High pressure will be centered over New York on Thursday, which will provide mostly sunny and warm conditions to open the event. This high will be shifting east through the day and Thursday night, and a low pressure system will start to track east across Ontario. The cold front associated with this low will track across Upstate New York on Friday. At this point, it appears that the timing of the best rain chances on Friday will be in the afternoon and evening hours. There is only a little bit of instability, so the threat of thunderstorms appears low at this time. If this timing works out, the Porsche GT3 Cup race and Lamborghini Super Trofeo race may have to deal with wet conditions.
