Friday will be the stormy day of the weekend, and fortunately there is no on-track activity scheduled (according to Indycar.com). Convection caused by a surface low to the northeast of the area with a trailing cold front will allow for showers and thunderstorms to be likely throughout the day. Heavy rain is possible at times, with totals reaching up to and a little above 1/2 inch. Highs will reach the mid 70s. Winds will be out of the southeast at 5-15 MPH. Chance of rain is 60%.
Saturday will be a completely different story. Mostly sunny skies and nice temperatures will prevail, as the cold front moves offshore and allows a surface high pressure to build into the area. Highs will reach the lower 70s. Chance of rain is 0%.
Sunday will feature partly cloudy skies as the surface high starts to weaken and move offshore. There is a very small chance that a shower could develop in the area, but I do not have the confidence as of yet to include that in the forecast. Highs will reach the mid 70s. Winds will be out of the south-southeast at 5-10 MPH. Chance of rain is 0% )as of now).
I will be watching the models to see what will happen on Sunday. I will have my fingers crossed that we'll keep our record unblemished for not having a rain delay at an over this season. Radar will be up later this week. I'll have updates throughout the week on my Twitter feed @RaceWx4You.
