This is a very early outlook and it is possible to change drastically, even though I do not believe it will. This is my first forecast for the Pirelli World Challenge Series as a full-fledged meteorologist, not as a student meteorologist as last season. Crossing my fingers that I pull it off. I'll have updates on our usual outlets (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram... all links are over to the right of this blog post). I'll have radar going as well, even though I strongly do not believe we will not need it for this weekend. It has been a long off-season and I am so excited to the start of 2016. Have a great week, and LET'S GET RACING!
By Scott Martin. The start to the 2016 Pirelli World Challenge Series looks like it will start off a lot brighter and a lot drier than last year, as the forecast features mostly sunny skies, comfortable temperatures, and no rain. Looking at the long range model runs for Circuit of the Americas, a low pressure system will be moving well to the north of the track and far enough away where rain and clouds will not be a factor. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70s to start off the event weekend, drop a little to the lower 70s on Friday, and back up to the mid 70s for Saturday and Sunday. As of now, models do not show any chance of rain throughout the weekend, but late Saturday night into very early Sunday morning there could be a small impulse that moves through that may bring some very light rain or mist. As of now, moisture level still look pretty dry, so rain may not even make it to the surface. I have decided to add forecasted barometric pressure readings to the graphic just in case the series or teams need it for boost levels.
