By Doug Schneider IMSA has a quick turn around this week, and heads to the other side of Lake Ontario, from Watkins Glen to Mosport. Much like last weekend for the Six Hours, there will be a good chance of rain on Friday, but the main event on Sunday appears likely to stay dry.
By Doug Schneider The Six Hours of the Glen will have dry weather from start to finish, but clouds will be increasing through the race. The race will begin with sunny skies and temperatures around 70 degrees. A low pressure system will be over the Midwest, and while the rain associated with it will stay well to the west today, high clouds to its east will be spreading into upstate New York in the afternoon. High temperatures will reach close to 80 degrees, and winds will be lighter than yesterday - from the west at 5 to 10 mph.
By Scott Martin. I do not believe conditions could be any better for racing for the Trans Am Series at Brainerd International Raceway for this weekend. Sunny skies and nice temperature throughout the weekend, with no rain in the forecast. These nice temperatures will really feel nice as well, as the dewpoints will be in the 50s each day. Early morning lows will be in the low to mid 50s each morning, with afternoon highs in the 70s. Just wear the sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats. Have a great weekend at Brainerd!
By Doug Schneider Low pressure is tracking across the Great Lakes region this morning, with a cold front located across Lake Erie and Ohio, moving east. Here's a look at the radar around 8:30 am (WGI is the red dot): Projecting the movement of the rain brings it into the Watkins Glen area around 2 pm. Currently there are some lightning strikes observed in Ohio, and most of the thunderstorms should stay across Pennsylvania today, but I can't entirely rule out a thunderstorm near the track today.
If the expected timing works out, there could be some rain for the later half of Continental Tire qualifying, particularly the GS session, and the Prototype Lites race at 2:30 pm. I expect that the rain will last into the WeatherTech Championship practice at 3:20 pm as well. Scattered showers may linger around the area into the Porsche GT Cup race. Rain amounts around the area will average around a quarter inch, with up to a half inch possible if a heavier shower passes over the track. High temperatures today will reach to near 80 degrees, with southwest winds at 5 to 10 mph. Saturday and Sunday continue to look great, with plenty of sunshine both days and high temperatures in the upper 70s to around 80. Winds on Saturday will be a little stronger, from the northwest at 10 to 15 mph. I'll have weather updates on my Twitter account through today - @Race4caster. |
