Showers are moving east across Michigan this morning:
Projecting the speed of these showers, they are expected to reach Belle Isle around 1 pm. I expect that the Trans Am race from 11:40 to 12:30 will stay dry. There's no racing scheduled at 1 pm, but there is a concert that will be going on. Although there is currently no lightning with these showers, they are expected to strengthen, and lightning will be a threat today. Stay aware of what is happening with the weather, and move to shelter when you hear thunder. We have a live radar link with lightning strikes at the top of the page to help you stay weather-aware.
The storms are expected to end in time for the start of the IndyCar race at 3:30 pm, but the track will probably be wet as there will be little to no sunshine to help the drying process. It will be breezy all day, with a southwest wind shifting to west behind the storms, at 12 to 16 mph.
