By Doug Schneider Rain is moving through the Milwaukee area this morning. Most of this rain should be out of the area between 8 and 10 am. The first on track activity is INDY NXT practice at 1:30 pm CDT, which should allow for plenty of time to dry the track. I don't expect that there will be any weather impacts today, as a cold front pushing through this afternoon will be followed by drier air and perhaps some sunshine at times. The rest of the weekend will have very nice weather. A second cold front will move through on Saturday night, which will bring cooler temperatures on Sunday, with highs in the mid 70s and a north wind at 10 to 15 mph.
By: Harris Cooley Pretty consistent weather is in store for the Italian GP at Monza as High pressure lays over the area. Sunny skies and warm temps will keep track temps with low wind speeds throughout the weekend as well. There is a slight chance for rain on Sunday but this would occur later in the evening if so. Drivers will have mostly favorable conditions for competitive racing so this should be an exciting one. Metric graphic pasted below...
By Doug Schneider A nice weekend is in store for INDYCAR's return to the Milwaukee Mile. A cold front will push through the area on Friday, but the showers and thunderstorms with this front are likely to occur in the morning, before any on-track activity is scheduled. There may be a delay to starting practice as the track dries, or if showers arrive a little later than expected. But overall, the impact appears low. The rest of the weekend looks beautiful, with abundant sunshine and comfortable temperatures.
By: Harris Cooley Friday begins with a relatively deep westerly Low pressure system moving through the region bringing high winds and scattered rain. Another round of showers is expected to pass Saturday afternoon into the evening with gusty winds as well. High pressure moves in to the area by Sunday presenting a mostly clear race day with mild temperatures.
Friday and Saturday will likely be tough days on the track navigating through the intermittent rain and gusty winds. This could leave Sunday's winning strategy up to overall familiarity of the track rather than the ability to collect comparable track data in practice sessions and qualifying. A metric graphic is posted below... By Doug Schneider Beautiful weather is expected this weekend at VIR. If you have never been to one of the prettiest race courses in the country, this is a great year to go. High pressure will be over New England through the weekend, and extend southward along the East Coast. This will supply cooler than normal temperatures to VIR (the normal high is around 87), along with low dewpoints for comfortable humidity levels. There will be a gradual warming trend through the weekend, from low 80s on Friday to upper 80s by Sunday. Can't ask for better racing weather in southern Virginia in late August.
By Doug Schneider No big changes are needed from my original forecast for INDYCAR's visit to WWT Raceway for the Bommarito 500. The weather looks great both today and tomorrow, but temperatures will be on the hot side, reaching the lower 90s. The humidity will not be oppressive, with daytime dewpoints expected to be in the upper 50s to lower 60s both days. There is a small (20%) chance of showers moving through the area on Friday night, but the timing will not impact the on-track activity.
By Doug Schneider No weather impacts are expected for INDYCAR's visit to World Wide Technology Raceway. There is a high (70%) chance of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday as a cold front pushed across the region, but by Friday, the rain will exit and drier air will be building into the St. Louis area. Building high pressure to the west will provide a northwest wind at 10-15 mph, and while temperatures will still reach near 90 in the afternoon, the humidity levels will be noticeably lower on Friday. There is a low (20% chance) that a thunderstorm complex will be near the area on Friday night, but the overnight timing is not likely to affect the on-track activity. Saturday looks like a nice day with temperatures in the 80s and a northwest wind at 10-15 mph, with low humidity. Temperatures during the evening race will be falling through the 80s to the upper 70s by the checkered flag.
By Doug Schneider A chance of rain has entered the forecast today for Sunday. A complex of thunderstorms is expected to develop over the northern Plains on Saturday, and track east-southeast toward Wisconsin. The main questions with this system are the timing and location. Some models show a more southward track that misses Road America completely, and I think this is the most likely scenario. However, some take it on a more northern track, and bring rain to the event, but at different times of the day. So there is a lot of uncertainty about Sunday's weather. The chance of impacts on the race is low, but that depends on the timing and track of this system.
If you're going to the race on Sunday, it is a good idea to be prepared for showers and thunderstorms. Follow our X account (@RacecastWx) for forecast and radar updates during the race. |
